Characteristic for the manufacturing industry in Nordic is the constantly growing international competition. Company’s competition advantages can not anymore be based on cheap labour. In order to compete with countries with low salary our companies has to focus on work where
• Size of series are small and piece size is big
• Logistic costs are noticeable
• Salary share of product prize is low
• Costumer/product variation is large
• Delivery time is short
• Customer adjustment can arise after ordering the product
• Work is technical and/or competence exacting
• Assembly and testing is part of the work
The more of the above mentioned criteria that companies’ activity fulfils it is more probably that the company is competitive in the future. With help of flexible production solutions one strive to satisfy customer demand rapidly and cost effective. This is possible only by effective use of information technology and automation.
Aim
The purpose of this project is to increase competence in labour in the small and medium sized companies and strengthen their competitiveness as well as building common innovations and education environment that can offer trade industry in the area and other actors competence in product and production development.
Objective
The project will increase global competitiveness among small and medium sized manufacturing companies by using information technology within the whole chain beginning from marketing/selling, product planning/design to manufacturing.
