The region has very good possibilities to create different research cluster and network within high technological mineralogy. Oulu University together with Luleå Technical University has life cycles of knowledge in mining industries and together they are competitive from an international perspective.
In order to increase the level in mineral and mining research has Lulea Technical University and Oulu University intention to start knowledge wise a strong and leading platform with focus on following areas:
• Strengthen effectiveness and quality in education and research
• Stimulate contacts in order to make cross border moving easier
• To have an developing role in mineral and mining and its present and future companies
• Form a collected cross border and attractive education environment
• Become an attractive research partner from an international perspective
Objective and aim
Through a strong co-operation between the universities form a collected cross border and attractive education and research environment within metallurgy and mining. It will contribute to increased attractions and competitiveness in the North Calotte area.
