| ProjectDescription | The project overall is to boost the cooperation between the Nordic road administrations, research units and the business sector on the use of GPR in road rehabilitation planning.
All Road administrations consider this as strategically important from their perspective although in very different levels. The project is built so that it responds to each interest groups needs with different WP’s.
To reach the overall objective the project has identified next steps:
To even out the knowledge gap:
Firstly different levels of training will be developed and carried out. It is necessary to disseminate the know-how to understand the GPR method better.
To make the cross-border business easier:
Recommendations for harmonising the procurement requirements and procedure will have to be developed and agreed upon.
To further promote the cutting edge expertise:
A research on development of the method (past-present-future) will be carried out (1 these work). The research will include several aspects and the findings will be used to update the recommendations at the end of the project.
To respond to the changes that has happened in asphalt mixture and GPR method developments to get the best possible results further tests of the method itself are required. 10 years is a long time in current pace and many changes have taken place. The guidelines that where written 10 years ago are in need for updating.
Combining the different work packages the project will boost the cooperation between the research, road administration and business sectors. Also the new network as such will be of a value to develop further as a strong expertise.
