ProjectDescriptionBackground The municipalities of Pajala and Kolari make plans for a cross border mining system whose conditions are good for present. The Canadian company Northland Resources Inc has investigated ore supply with promising results in both countries; Tapulivuoma and Sahavaara on the Swedish side and Hannukainen-Laurinoja on the Finnish side. Objective and aim The project will in Phase I focus on the direct and most important measure that the establishing of a mining demand and to secure that the coming establishment of a mining is done as professional and smoothly as possible. Aim The primary purposes in phase I is to do a collected basic analysis in cooperation with the other parties concerned and bring about a common activity plan before phase II. The following question at issue will form the basis of the activity plan: • Labour and competence support for future needs from mining and trade and industry • Create possibilities for existing and new companies in the area as well as developing a differentiate economy • Developing the regions power of attractions • Support building new infrastructure • Develop a rich selection of culture and leisure for present and new inhabitants in both municipalities
