Project NameNorthern network climate change
ProjectDescriptionThe project aims to bring together local and regional actors in cross-border cooperation to tackle common challenges such as population growth, how to use natural resources in a sustainable way and how to preserve the Sámi cultural heritage in a changing climate. One of the main goals is to share experiences and educate municipalities, authorities and opinion leaders on future climate and energy issues throughout the region. The project thus aims to transfer scientific results into practice and improve cooperation between different research institutions, municipalities, businesses and other stakeholders. Native traditional knowledge of sustainability will be included in all activities. For the project it is also important that the region's young people can participate in awareness-raising activities on environment, climate and energy. The main objective of the project is through cross-border cooperation get municipalities to act more in a sustainable manner. The project will develop the local variety of new and specific tools (guides, tutorials, templates, whatIf scenario tool) for a strategic work in the energy and climate for the different target groups (municipalities, businesses and schools) By raising environmental awareness among the so-called stakeholders, municipalities adapt better to climate change and establish sustainability issues as part of various planning processes. The project aims also to raise environmental awareness and participation among the region's young people to be able to meet tomorrow's challenges.
