| ProjectDescription | Background
In both Sweden and Norway are ongoing processes of cultural vitalizing in order to strengthen position and identity for “kväner” and “tornedalingar” as national minorities. With this process has an increasing awareness about the importance of documenting history and culture heritage of these minorities – a task for museums.
Objective and aim
By travelling exhibitions participating institutions intend to initiate and develop possibilities for cross border cooperation between five regional institutions in North Calotte. Parties see the exhibition as a pilot project that correspond to the need for developing tools and methods as well as competence that can be used to initiating future project linked to the common heritage in North Calotte.
Purpose with the project is through travelling exhibitions present how Finnish speaking people has migrate to Ruija (Finnmark). The exhibition is based on documentation from Finland, Sweden and Norway. With this purpose the parties wish to contribute to the ongoing revitalize of both culture and language in Sweden and Norway.
