Youth in Tornio valley can’t be regarded as having enough knowledge about Sweden’s and Finland’s common history that began in the beginning of 12th century and continued to 1809 when Finland became a Russian grand duke duchy. The Council of Tornio Valley wants through its working group for culture – responsible for culture in all 14th municipalities – contribute to increasing knowledge about our countries common history.
Objective and aim
Objective
Strengthening the common cross-border identity among students and increase the knowledge about Sweden's and Finland’s' history among youngsters.
Aim
• Production of a theme book for distribution to schools and youngsters in Tornio Valley. Addition about 3 000 copies.
• Presentation of common history for the latest 200 years as well as view towards future from today’s condition.
