ProjectDescriptionBackground The project is cross border and come into contact with pupils that have education in south Sami language. South Sami people in Norway and Sweden has a common language and culture. South Sami language is according to UNESCO list a threatened language. SamS and County Government of Nordland will in this project give opportunity to take back, strengthen, preserve and develop south Sami language in an active comprised Sami environment. Objective and aim Objective is to create a development environment that set up conditions, through language and culture, in order to strengthen, preserve and develop the Sami language. Through language camps that are carried out in Sami environment with traditional knowledge you can pick up things that are important in a life long learning. The project will inspire to increasing efforts in order to acquire the south Sami language, increase the language zone, contribute to better recruiting of teachers with competence in south Sami and create environment where Sami could be used in areas that are sparsely populated both in Sweden and Norway. One aim is also that more pupils and parents want to have training in south Sami. One other aim is to give desired knowledge about vitalizing that can be of help for other Sami language and for more contribution in strengthen of language arenas in society.
