The Arctic Awards 2018 project competition was launched on the 2nd May and closed on the 10th June. The award has been designed to highlight exceptional projects focusing on topics of particular relevance to the Arctic area. The competition was open to projects funded by the Northern Periphery & Arctic Programme, Interreg Botnia-Atlantica, Interreg Nord and Kolarctic CBC programmes, and for the first time the Karelia CBC programme.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The competition has been extremely well received by projects funded by all participating programmes. The projects that entered the competition have shown how innovative and inspirational they are, with an ability to demonstrate a clear and concrete Arctic dimension giving direct benefits to Arctic communities.The Arctic Project Awards rotates its categories yearly. This year\u2019s categories were:<\/p>\n

1.Arctic Entrepreneurial Spirit
\n2.Cold Climate Opportunities<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Judging Panel was made up of representatives from the programmes Northern Periphery & Arctic, Interreg Botnia-Atlantic, and Interreg Nord. It was decided that for 2018 only category winners would be chosen. Category winners for Arctic Entrepreneurial Spirit and Cold Climate Opportunities have now been notified.<\/p>\n

The Arctic Cooperation Programmes wish to thank all those projects who entered this year.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The announcement of the 2018 category winners will take place during the award ceremony planned to be held during a drinks reception following the European Week of Regions and Cities seminar \u201cSustainable development of the Arctic region to the benefit of all of Europe\u201d on 9th October at 14.30-16.00 in Scotland House, Brussels, Belgium.<\/p>\n
