The Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) have launched a new online public consultation on overcoming obstacles within internal border regions, as well as the borders between Member States and EFTA/EEA-countries.
DG REGIO is of the opinion that the time has come to take stock of the implementation of the Action Plan, particularly in light of the arrival of a new Commission with new priorities and the ongoing impact of the current pandemic. The COVID-19 crisis has shown how deeply affected internal border regions can be, but at the same time, this crisis has revealed the diversity of cross-border regions and their dynamics, including the valuable contribution made by cross-border commuters and the positive outcomes of cooperation. The public consultation will be open until 20 September 2020.
