Next step in the programming process – Interreg Aurora

The preparations of the new Interreg Aurora programme for the period 2021-2027 is proceeding and the interest is overwhelming. Almost a thousand people have already made their voices heard in the shaping of the programme. They have participated in an online survey in November 2020 and by providing feedback on the drafted priorities at a public stakeholder forum in February 2021.

The preparing of the programme is coordinated by Regional Council of Lapland, Region Norrbotten and Troms and Finnmark County Council through four different working groups that consists of all ten regions in the programme area and the Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Sami Parliaments.

What is coming next?

The working groups are writing on the next edition of programme with the selected priorities. This draft will be presented for the Joint Programming Committee on the 23rd of March 2021. The Joint Programming Committee consists of members from regional and national level from each partner state as well as the three Sami Parliaments. They have the overall responsibility for the preparation of the whole programme. After this there will be a chance to comment on the programme draft.

The Managing Authority continues the work with questions concerning the management of the future programme. The strategic environmental assessment (SEA) is going to be carried out for public hearing in April.
